One of the reasons I wanted a blog spot is for the ability to post pictures of things easily. We took an Alaskan cruise this summer, departing from Seward, Alaska and sailing south to Vancouver making stops at the Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Skagway, Ice Point Strait, and Ketchikan. We had a great time, the food was excellent and the scenery couldn't be beat. Our head waiter was an Indonesian by the name of Octovian and his assistant was a Peruvian named Michael. Octovian liked to do magic tricks at the end of dinner every night. We got them to pose with us after dinner the last night. One bad feature of having a good waiter is the fact that he brings you every thing you ask for. I put on 8 pounds during the cruise in spite of doing three 1-hour workouts in the gym that week. That's what double entrees and desserts every night will do for you. As you can see, Rocky and I had a totally different perspective on how cold the weather was when we arrived at Seward to get on the boat. A light, misty rain was coming down but Rocky and I thought it felt pretty nice. Cassie and Steph weren't thinking that was the case as they were all bundled up. When I was at the gym the other day, I saw a bottle of water that was labeled "glacier pure water" or some drivel like that. I had to laugh, now that I've seen a glacier. The glacier itself, and the water around it is full of silt, dirt, rocks, and all other sorts of garbage I would never want to try and ingest. Glaciers and the water around them look like somebody has defrosted their freezer and thrown all of the dirty ice into a puddle of muddy water on the street. What do you think? We all agreed that Juneau was one of the prettier cities we'd ever seen. Green, mountainous, fresh, lots of other good adjectives. We saw the Mendenhall Glacier and went to a salmon bake.

Getting Started
I'm nearly 50 years old, so I figure I'd better start a blog before I die. Check back later when I actually post something useful.............
